Wrong Brother, Right Match

WRONG BROTHER, RIGHT MATCH is a cute, funny and heartfelt Christmas read that won’t fail to keep you warm! This is my first read by Jennifer Shirk and I was completely enchanted! I loved the premise of the story, but I was worried that lines might be crossed, because I don’t like and will easily discard cheater books. This had none of that. Well maybe a stole kiss between two strangers in an elevator. But the author kept it classy. Kennedy and Matt are obviously meant for each other but Kennedy is loyal to her boyfriend Justin, as well as her employees, her cousin and everyone else in her life. And Matt is responsible, a little broody and completely dreamy. Even though he was developing feelings for Kennedy, they both were able to keep themselves in check and remember that Kennedy is Justin’s fiancé and Matt is Justin’s brother. And sometimes it sucked to remember that! Both characters have their baggage but always seemed to put others in front of their own happiness. Which is admirable, but not healthy for either of them. Kennedy and Matt paired beautifully together and I greatly enjoyed their story. I also enjoyed reading about the secondary characters. I loved Matt and Justin’s mom and sister. They were fun-loving, strong women with soft hearts and unconditional acceptance towards Kennedy. Even after things started getting messy! Overall, the book is delightful and everything you want in your Christmas read! What a fun read full of drama, mixed emotions, family love, what is important and putting others first. Kennedy has a lot to learn about relationships she is sure she knows what it takes to make the perfect match after all it worked on her. What she finds is sometimes being so much alike might not be the right match. This is a story about getting to know yourself what you need, want and expect from your mate as well as finding the perfect match not only for yourself but for others. Yes her program works but programs can only be so right they don’t add in emotions and feelings. For Kennedy she will have a hard long road to find out which man is her perfect match as emotions and hearts battle will the perfect man please stand up. Kennedy was a character you could relate to easy she has had a hard life growing up and doesn’t want to have the relationships her mother had. She wants her children to have everything she did not and Justin looks like the perfect fit until one chance meeting, an elevator add a bottle of champagne with a hot man and tongues let lose in more ways than one has her rethinking everything in her life. Matt always does what is expected everyone leans on him and he takes care of all issues putting his life on the back burn. He is ok with this, loves his life that all changed with one kiss now he wants more. He does his best to put his family first even when he finds the perfect women for him at his home with his brother. The lady from the elevator is right before his eyes hanging on his brother lord can things get any worse. I thought this was a cute read that really pulls you in. Each try their best to keep things light but Justin just isn’t making things easy. I really didn’t want to like Justin but it is hard not to with all the emotional baggage he is carrying around after his father’s death he needs to rethink his life and put others before his self before he loses the women he loves. Matt tries so hard to walk away but it is just too hard with her being there at every turn. Kennedy has way too much on the line to even thing about changing men at this time. She can’t afford to be wrong or her business will go down the drain. I really felt for all these characters. No matter which ways she goes she loses putting a family at each other. What an emotional mess. I thought this was well written, believable, I had to trouble believing this could really happen. It was a cute fun read, at times I chuckled and other times I held my breath just waiting for the worse to happen. Kennedy’s speech really got to me as it did so many others. It was from the heart, painful but honest. I loved the supporting characters the family was just a delight. I love the humor between family members which reminds me so much of my own. There is no doubt this has a very emotional pull and leaves your torn at times. I am looking forward to see what else this author comes up with.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….Jennifer Shirk is my go to author for sweet romances. You can’t help but feel for the characters and want them to find their happily-ever-after. Kennedy Pepperdine believes in love. Well, what she thinks is love. She doesn’t believe that your heart should guide you, but your mind. She believes that if two people have the same likes and dislikes that it makes them a perfect couple. She’s even betting her company, Match Made Easy, on this belief and the computer program she helped design. She believes she’s found her perfect match in Justin, who she met through her company. But being trapped in a Vegas elevator with a stranger has her world reeling, just a little bit. Matt Ellis has for the most part, not lived the life he’s wanted to live. That doesn’t mean he isn’t happy running the family winery and taking care of his mother and younger sister. Matt isn’t really a relationship kind of guy, but he just can’t get the stranger he met in a Vegas elevator out of his head. Christmas is approaching and Kennedy is looking forward to having a wonderful dream-filled Christmas with Justin and his family. The perfect Christmas with the perfect fiancé is just what she’s always wanted. Unfortunately, the one person she never thought she would see again happens to be her fiancé’s older brother. As if things couldn’t get any worse, Justin reneges on a promise to leave work behind. Once again, Matt is pushed into the role of taking care of the family, including Kennedy, when Justin returns to Boston for work. It seems the Christmas Kennedy has always dreamed of isn’t going to happen after all. I have a hard time with someone “being with” one sibling and then falling for the other sibling. I just think it makes things a little awkward. But Kennedy and Matt are two people you know are right for each other. They each tried really hard to fight their feelings for the other. At no point in time did they not have Justin's best interest at heart. This was something I really liked about the story. Matt was easy to like from the beginning. His likeability just kept increasing throughout the book. Kennedy was also likeable, but I found myself feeling sorry for her most of the time. I don't mean to be insulting, but Kennedy was like a puppy desperately trying to fit in. I found it sad that what was so important to her was not important to her fiancé. Justin came across almost the entire book as being self-centered and self-absorbed. I know that truly isn’t the type of person he is, but in a way he’s also trying to figure out where he fits in. Wrong Brother, Right Match left me with a smile on my face. I’m really hoping the series continues.
