सामाजिक सरोकारों की कहानियाँ लिखनेवाली लेखिका उषाकिरण खान ने साहित्येतिहास के गलियारे में लगातार झाँकने की कोशिश की है। शेरशाह उसी की एक कड़ी है। ‘अगनहिंडोला’ उपन्यास शेरशाह की जीवनी है। दिल्ली के तख्त पर सिर्फ पाँच साल काबिज होने वाले सुलतान ने जितने प्रशासनिक एवं लोकहित के कार्य किये कोई दूसरा सालोंसाल हुकूमत करके भी नहीं कर सकता। उसी रूखे-सूखे शहंशाह की जाती जिन्दगी के लम्हे जो बेहद तकलीफों से भरे हैं, जहाँ इनसानी जज़्बा भरा हुआ है, जिसे अपने विशदज्ञान के उपयोग न कर पाने का मलाल है, जिसके प्यार का सोता बहता है - की कथा ‘अगनहिंडोला’ में कहती हैं उषाकिरण खान। हिन्दुस्तान की तारीख में खास जगह रखनेवाला शेयनशह बेमौके मौत के आगोश में चला गया। शेयनशह की जिश्न्दगी में ‘इश्क हकीकी’ भी है यही वजह है कि मलिक मुहम्मद जायसी सरीखे कवि से इतना अधिक लगाव है। लेखिका ने स्वयं की परिपाटी के अनुसार पारदर्शी भाषा का सौन्दर्य बरकरार रखा है। उपन्यास में कहीं कठिन अबूझ प्रयोग नहीं है। यह उपन्यास आपको उषाकिरण खान के लेखन के नये अनुभव संसार में ले जायेगा।
