About this ebook

It’s not often that tragedy leads to happily ever after. But it’s not impossible either...

No one told Trevor Booth that parenting teenagers was like riding a roller coaster through a wildfire...during a natural disaster...in hell. That’s something he learns when he becomes a single dad overnight. Fortunately, his ex-wife’s best friend is there to help. His completely inappropriate attraction to her, however, is something he’d have to learn to deal with on his own...

Callie Larson is devastated. Watching two children she loves like her own suffer the loss of their mother is unbearable. She knows helping Trevor adjust to his role as a full-time parent is the right thing to do. But helping him does not include having a forbidden affair with him... or falling in love with him. At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself...

Can Trevor and Callie find a way to pick up the pieces and move on together—or are their emotional scars just too deep to ever heal properly?

My Best Friend’s Ex, book 2 in the Daring Divorcees series, is an angsty, spicy, over 40 contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone. Download today and get ready to fall into perfect romantic escapism with Trevor and Callie.

My Best Friend's Ex is Book 2 of Daring Divorcees. It's a spicy, midlife, second-chance romance. Trevor is a part-time dad to two teens. He was an alcoholic and divorced Lisa about 10 years ago. They have been able to co-parent, although Lisa has been the primary, but lately, she had struggled with the teen attitudes. Trevor's world is turned upside down, though, when Lisa dies in an accident and he becomes an instant full-time dad. Callie is Lisa's best friend and a world traveler. She's devastated by the loss of her bestie and wants to support her kids. This book really dealt with a lot of tough issues like addiction, grief, love after loss, regret, the struggles of single parenting, etc. As Callie and Trevor navigate this new world without Lisa, they also realize they are attracted to each other. They had great chemistry, and we ended on a happy note, but I would have loved more. This was a great read, albeit very emotional. I received a free copy and am voluntarily reviewing.

Trevor and Callie find themselves reunited after Lisa's death. His ex and her best friend since childhood. It's weird that they are attracted to one another, and the sparks are evident to everyone. Even his kids. But Callie is a runner, leaving to globetrot for work when things get tough. Trevor is a recovering alcoholic, needing to be in control. He's gotta ensure he does right by his kids after being absent for so long. Can they compromise a little to hold on to the love they have found? A great friends-to-lovers tale with enough heat to keep the pages turning. The chemistry between the MCs is hot (yuck per the kids). His kids, Evan and Hannah, are typical teens recovering from the loss of their mother. Their main parental figure. Their rock. They handle their new normal well, trusting in their dad and Callie, even if Grandma Diane disagrees. The daring divorcees have Trevor's back through it all and I look forward to more fun with the group. Booksprout review

Friends to Lovers Trevor and Callie use to be friends but his ex-wife got Callie in the divorce. They have a connection and building a relationship with kids involved is hard. When there are a lot of changes happening at once it's harder. They have to figure out if their relationship is worth being more than friends. There are a lot of emotions that they go through as a parent, a significant other, and a family. It is a heartfelt read and I would recommend it. The beginning is sad and deals with death. It does deal with Trevor being a recovering alcoholic which maybe a trigger for some. There is no abuse in the story and it is very respectful in how it was written.

About the author

Shannyn Schroeder is the author of The O’Leary Family series, The O’Malley Family series, and The Doyle Family series, contemporary romances centered around large Irish-American families in Chicago. The Hot & Nerdy series is about nerdy college friends finding love. And her Daring Divorcees series follows a group of middle-aged divorcees getting back into the dating scene. Under the pen name Sloane Steele, the Counterfeit Capers series is a Leverage-inspired heist romance series that follows a group of criminals who come together as a team to right some wrongs. When this editor and sometimes English teacher isn’t wrangling her almost grown kids or writing, she watches a ton of TV and loves to bake cookies.
