Sweet story with heartwarming characters Kennedy, an ER doctor, is "crashing" her ex's wedding because of his drunk phone call that is probably just cold feet. Coincidentally, the wedding is taking place at the ranch/wedding venue owned by the family of a guy she knew in college, Maverick. Sparks fly, even though Maverick isn't sure he's ready to move on from a tragic loss years ago. The story was a little confusing at first until I realized that there were two exes in Kennedy's life - one whose wedding she's now attending, and one that has recently become engaged to her sister. One's still a friend; the other is the reason she's looking for another job. Her friendship with her college rival, Maverick, is complex yet sweet and heartfelt. There is a strong cast of charming, small town characters who embrace the city girl and help her make the necessary decisions about her future, and there's just enough steam to showcase the chemistry that makes it impossible for either Kennedy or Maverick to walk away from the blossoming romance. I loved the HEA, and the story was well balanced between light humor and medical tragedy. I appreciated that the tear-jerking scenes were layered with warmth and hope for the future. I recommend this romance for anyone who likes the city girl/cowboy dynamic; just keep a notepad handy to sort out who's who until you're well into the story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Kennedy and Maverick gave me a wonderfully fun and emotional second chance romance. Kennedy is searching for a family that will accept and support her without judgement. She is a fixer and there isn’t anything she won’t do for someone in need which has her crashing a wedding to make sure her friend Reed is making the right decision when he has some doubts. Crossing paths with Maverick is unexpected and amazing all at the same time. These two ended up in college together and became a driving force for each other to push harder and do better as they both wanted to win anytime they were up against each other. From the moment they run into each other, that same spark, banter and competitiveness flows from them both. Maverick found his life taking a different turn as he deals with grief from losing someone he loved. Having Kennedy appear back in his life seems to be the push he needs to find a way forward. I enjoyed this couple and all the crazy fun moments they shared. The town of Windsong is like a comfortable hug which is something Kennedy didn’t fully understand that she needed. How they connect and then work to find a path that will allow them to embrace a happily ever after left me smiling and full of joy.

4.5⭐ They say there's a fine line between love and hate and Ms Bielman straddles it beautifully with a small town story full of great characters and a storyline that has all the feels and perfectly balances the serious notes with the snappy banter and sweetness I love. And with plenty of character growth and great pacing I was completely captivated throughout and hope there will be more visits to Windsong in the future. Would happily recommend. **I was kindly provided with an ARC via Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review**
