अण्णासाहेब किर्लोस्कर ते वि. वा. शिरवाडकर अशा दहा महत्त्वाच्या नाटककारांच्या गाजलेल्या नाटकांतील निवडक वेच्यांचा श्री. वि. स. खांडेकरांनी संपादित केलेला हा संग्रह आहे. मराठी नाट्यलेखनाचा कसकसा विकास होत गेला, त्याचा अस्पष्ट आलेख या वेच्यांतून सूचित होतो. आज नट, नाटककार आणि नाट्यगृहे या नाट्यकलेच्या वैभवाला आवश्यक असलेल्या तिन्ही घटकांचे एक प्रकारचे दुर्भिक्ष जाणवत आहे. ही प्रतिवूâल परिस्थिती पालटेपर्यंत मराठी रंगभूमीला जुन्या वैभवावरच जगले पाहिजे. `रंगदेवता' या ग्रंथात वाचकांना या वैभवाचे, अंशत: का होईना, दर्शन घडेल आणि या वैभवाला कारणीभूत झालेल्यानिवडक नाट्यकृतींच्या समग्र अभ्यासाला ते प्रवृत्त होतील.
This is a compilation of important and famous dialogues from the topmost dramas written by eminent personalities, right from Annasaheb Kirloskar to V. V. Shirwadkar. It helps us to understand the progress of Marathi Theater in a better way. Today, we all miss the important theater trio; the actor, the play-writer and the theaters. Till the scenario changes to better, we need to survive on the past memories of theater and dramas. This book allows the readers to travel through the bygone rich era of Marathi Theater. It will surely initiate an interest to further study the dramas in detail
