A very sweet and innocent story of first love while discovering what you want to do with your life, based in an alternate present in which Egyptian mythology rules. This book skewed younger than the main Apprentice of Anubis series, and focused more on Shan coming-of-age and realizing she could make her own decisions, even if they weren't exactly what her parents wanted of her. There were some cameos from other characters within the Egyptian Empire world, and it's always fun to see them.

Another new series begins in this Egyptian inspired world with new leading characters and some old favorites popping in to make things interesting. I enjoyed the new characters and family and thought it was a blast. While an easy fun read, it still entertained and had me reading in one sitting to see what would happen if mom and dad would get their wish. Some light drama and lots of laughter by me. Enjoyed meeting Shan and expect more good stories from her as she learns the ropes of her new job.

The pressure of Blessed! Having Blessed parents comes with pressure but Shan's parents take it to new heights. With two older Blessed siblings, her parents expect the same for Shan and her twin.
