Set in London's Chinatown, this gripping and eye-opening tale explores the opium trade and the various nefarious forces from the East that seek to control it. Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward (15 February 1883 - 1 June 1959), also known as "Sax Rohmer", was a prolific English novelist most famous for his stores that included the criminal mastermind Dr. Fu Manchu. Other notable works by this author include: "The Quest of the Sacred Slipper" (1919), "Tales of Chinatown" (1922), and "The Master of Hollow Grange" (1920). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
