Die Beiträge bieten einen Überblick über ausgewählte Ergebnisse des vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung geförderten Forschungsprojekts „Open Innovation in Life Sciences“. Das Projekt wurde von Mai 2008 bis Mai 2011 an der Universität Potsdam durchgeführt. Der Schwerpunkt des Sammelbands liegt auf der Analyse von Chancen und Risiken der Öffnung des Innovationsprozesses von Unternehmen, wobei insbesondere auch die Anforderungen des Pharma‐Mittelstands Berücksichtigung finden. Darauf aufbauend entwickeln die Beitragsautoren ein Konzept zur Implementierung von Open Innovation im Pharma‐Mittelstand.
