Mia felt nervous as the door closed behind them. She looked at the two men. They looked almost identical. Both were much taller and broader than her. Despite Gabe’s room being the same large size as Kieran’s, it felt cramped when they both turned their attention on her.
“Nervous?” Gabe asked as he gave her a teasing smile. “There’s no need to be.”
‘Yeah right,’ Mia thought. As if she gave her body to an unknown man for political reasons every day. Not a chance. “I’m not nervous,” she said quickly.
Gabe looked unconvinced, but he didn’t contradict her. Only ran his right hand across his chest as if he wanted to emphasise their size difference. Mia swallowed. If he wanted to, he could take whatever he wanted from her. Her life or her consent. How could it ever be fair to deal with two shifters who could probably read her mind and smell her true feelings? Mia knew she was the underdog, and she didn’t like it at all.
“Shall we get on with it?” Mia asked snidely, hoping it was just like a band-aid. Easier to rip off quickly than to prolong the pain by doing it slowly.
Gabe chuckled. “Don’t sound so eager, Mate. You might convince me you want me.”
Mia snorted. “It’s not like I have much choice, is there?”
Gabe’s eyes softened as if he considered her point of view for the first time. “What is your name, Mate?”
“Mia,” she replied.
