“Where’s the front door? I want to leave right now.”

“Are you sure about that?” Hector snorted. “Women always throw themselves at Kieran.”

Mia harrumphed. Their words explained why the Alpha was so arrogant. “Then they have my condolences. The front door, please?”

They just laughed heartily as if she had said something funny. Even the guard sat by the table and didn't care what she did.

“Never mind. I’ll find it myself.” Mia realised she wouldn’t get the answers she wanted from these people.

Hector chuckled behind her. “You’d better eat something, human. Before Alpha Kieran finds you and wants a repeat.”

“Not an option whatsoever,” Mia said. She couldn’t eat any more. The thought of facing their Alpha made her feel both sick and embarrassed. She hastened through the hallway, heading toward the light shining from several windows ahead of her. At the far end, there was a large hall. There had to be a door around there. Even a window would do as long as it was big enough for her to climb through. As she entered the large room, she noticed the daylight streaming through the glass beside the front door. Mia headed straight for it. Could it really be this easy to escape?

But just as she pushed against the heavy door it suddenly opened outwards. Mia fell forward so fast it was impossible to stop herself from face planting against a man’s broad chest.

‘Ouch.’ It was typical that someone would enter the house just as she tried to escape. Mia pushed away from him and mumbled an excuse. “Sorry about that. I was just leaving.”
