About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging. Google Messages is revolutionizing how a billion users connect and is powered by Rich Communication Services (RCS), the industry standard for texting that replaces SMS and MMS. With RCS, you can share high resolution photos and videos, enjoy dynamic group chats, and seamlessly connect with other RCS users including your iPhone friends.

• Rich Communication: Share high-quality photos and videos, see when friends are typing, and enjoy dynamic group chats that now seamlessly include your iPhone friends.
• Personal Touch: Make conversations uniquely yours with features like custom chat bubble colors or fun selfie gifs.
• Privacy Matters: Rest easy knowing your personal chats are protected with end-to-end encryption between Google Messages users, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you’re messaging. Plus, enjoy advanced spam protection.
• AI-Powered Messaging: Craft the perfect message with Magic Compose suggestions and our latest AI features.
• Seamless Across Devices: Start a chat on your phone and continue it effortlessly on your tablet or computer. The app is also available on Wear OS.

Google Messages is more than just messaging; it's a richer, safer, and more expressive way to connect.

App is also available on Wear OS. Availability of RCS varies by region and carrier and a data plan may be required. Availability of features varies by market and device and sign up for beta testing may be required.

Terrible and glitchy, even typing out this review, the autocorrect is way too intrusive. I don't want to have to press a check mark to make it so autocorrect doesn't completely change my words. And what kind of silly world do we live in where software tries to say any other word than a curse word. Grow up, they are words, and you are Google it only makes it look like you are trying to condition me to speak differently. Text stays in the message box after pressing send. Could go on for longer.

Hi, Collin. Let's try resetting the app data. More info here (see "Clear the app's cache" section): https://goo.gl/gX7ctA. Hope this helps!

Edit: hahahaha, I love that you just repeated exactly what I was concerned about in your reply. Your instructions require first agreeing to get to the page to turn it off. No. Original: App was working fine, but now suddenly it's requiring me to agree to sharing my Google account name and picture with anyone that messages me. I don't want to do that, but there's no option not to agree to it. Just "Continue as ..." With the wrong name I used to setup my account years ago.

Hi, Theia. Google Messages now allows you to share your Google Account profile (name and picture only) with the people you send messages to, so they can easily recognize you. Your email address is not shared with anyone you send a message to. If you’d like to use Google Messages without an account, check out this link: https://goo.gle/4hGJGjT.

Says that it collects personal info and shares it with third parties. How is that even allowed for an app this personal? Plus, they've got complete control over RCS so you can't even switch to another app. After the last update, I can't even use the app without connecting it to my Google account. Supposedly I can disconnect it afterwards but why force me to connect it in the first place? It's literally a wall that forces me to choose an account with no way to bypass it. Disabled it.
