Ever since they added the voice message microphone in the same exact position where the send button is and just above where I do voice to text with the same exact icon this app is ridiculously frustrating from accidental presses every time I use it. It also causes breaks in sending messages where things get locked in sending status. There's no way to move it. It asked me if I wanted to try it out but there's no way to disable it. Thanks a lot Google.

I find most of the app intuitive enough, but it's made largely awkward by "threads". These make the list of conversations hard to look at, and to find the main conversation. And I wind up accidentally replying to threads instead. WhatsApp has a far better solution by simply showing the message you've replied to above the one you sent, without duplicating your chat a bunch of times into separate chat windows. Threads are a poor user experience, and many people have said they should be scrapped.

Missing a lot of features from Hangouts. You can't disable accounts, so always have to choose when sharing. You can't set it to open links in Chrome instead of the Chats browser, so if you want to keep a link open and return to Chats you have to find the Open in Chrome option. Doesn't have an image viewer, you can't swipe between images. For the same reason, saving an image is a long press. Altogether, half-finished. I'll be going back to Hangouts. Inconsistent with modern design.
