Vicente Falconi

Vicente Falconi was born in 1940. He graduated in Engineering from Minas Gerais Federal University (UFMG) in 1963 and earned an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines (USA) in 1968 and 1971. He was a professor at UFMG from 1964 to 1992, and was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus by that university. Falconi worked for many years with Japanese representatives from JUSE (Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers) in Brazilian companies. He co-founded and is currently partner and council member of FALCONI Consultores de Resultado. In 2001, he joined both the Crisis Management Chamber and the Energy Crisis Management Committee. He sat on the board of several major companies and is board member of AmBev since 1997. Falconi published six books on Management, which have sold over 1 million copies. He received several honors from the Brazilian government (the prestigious Order of Rio Branco medal), the state government of Minas Gerais and the municipal government of Belo Horizonte. He was the only Latin American included among the "21 voices of the 21st century" listed by the American Society for Quality.
