Simon Elias Bibri

Dr. Simon Elias Bibri is Senior Research Scientist and Project Coordinator at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Institute of Computer and Communication Sciences (IINFCOM), School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC). He has a diverse professional background, having served as Head of Computer Department, Software and IT Business Engineer, Project Manager, Green ICT and Environmental Sustainability Strategist, Research Associate, Consultant, and Assistant Professor. Currently, he serves as an Expert in Artificial Intelligence and Applied Machine Learning for Climate Action for UNFCCC, an International Expert in Sustainable Cities for UNIDO, and an Expert for Focus Group for Smart Sustainable Cities, Digital Twins, and Environmental Sustainability for ITU. He also holds the position of Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Environmental Studies at Francis and Taylor Group. Dr. Bibri's holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and an Advanced Management Program (AMP) degree. Notably, he earned multiple Master’s degrees from esteemed Swedish universities, namely Lund University, West University, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, Malmö University, and Mid–Sweden University. Additionally, he received his PhD in Computer Science from NTNU, specializing in Computational Technology and Urban Informatics, with a focus on data-driven smart sustainable cities. Dr. Bibri's has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings, authored 6 books, edited 2 books, and co-edited 7 books, published by Springer, Elsevier, and Routledge.
