Phoebus L. Athanassiou is legal advisor to a leading central bank, a member of the Faculty of the Institute of Law and Finance at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, and a member of the Faculty of Law at the University of Mannheim, Germany. He holds a PhD in Law, an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law from King's College, London, and an LLB in English and European (French) Law from Queen Mary College, London. He has published extensively with a focus on financial services and capital markets regulation, private international law and institutional issues of relevance to the EU and EMU. He is the author of Hedge Fund Regulation in the European Union (Kluwer, 2009) and the editor of theResearch Handbook on Hedge Funds, Private Equity and Alternative Investments(Edward Elgar, 2011). He sits at the Editorial Boards of the ECB Legal Working Papers Seriesand theInternational In-house Counsel Journal.Heis a qualified Greek lawyer and a member of the Athens Bar.
