David J. Sarokin

David Sarokin is never really sure how to best summarize his life, career, and interests. Nor does he enjoy autobiographical writing in the third person but some things are simply expected. David is an ecologist by training and an environmental policy specialist through decades of experience. He has worked with government agencies (USEPA, NJDEP), environmental groups (INFORM, NRDC, Friends of the Earth), legislators (US Senate, NYS Assembly), and, as a Fulbright Fellow, with an international organization (OECD). His early work was instrumental in creating the right-to-know program in the US and internationally, and his later contributions included significant input to Agenda 21, the President's Council on Sustainable Development, the Pollution Prevention Act, and other policy initiatives. Mr. Sarokin has written extensively on environmental topics as well as broader social and economic issues. He is the author of three previous books: Cutting Chemical Wastes (INFORM), Missed Information: Building a Wealthier, More Sustainable Future (MIT Press), and The Corporation: Its History and Future (Cambridge Scholars Press). He holds a degree in marine biology from SUNY Stony Brook. He is the father to two great kids and lives in Washington DC with his wonderful wife, Sarah, but still thinks of himself as a Brooklyn boy.
