Divorced, single, and all dried up.

That’s what I put on my dating app profile. I couldn’t think of a better way to describe myself. I’d lost not only my confidence but my kids over Christmas.

My friends told me to do something fun, but I’d forgotten what that meant. I was forty-five going on seventy, and I’d spent the last twenty years focusing on my ex-husband and kids.

I decided the one place to have fun would be in Vegas.

I went alone.

I lied and told everyone that I had a date.
