About this ebook

Almost all investors who have taken professional advice to invest their hard-earned money have, at one time or another, faced fraud, deception and mis-selling from those selling mutual funds, ULIPs and shares. Some these investors have lost all their wealth and many of them committed suicide since they could not withstand the financial loss.

Investors believe, by and large, that the fraud is perpetuated mostly by the agents who sell them the investments. The agents are only a small proportion of the persons cheating investors. The main actors are behind the scenes. The Book offers insights on how investors are cheated by academicians, the media, the asset management companies, the fund managers and other experts. These experts create a world of delusions (called ignis fatuus in Latin) to feed the investors’ desire to earn money quickly. The Book describes the environment that has been created in the financial sector and how that environment facilitates fraud and deception. The 10 most-common statements that experts make which create the world of ignis fatuus (delusions) for investors are examined. Evidence is provided to show why all the statements that promise investors high returns amount to a misrepresentation or fraud.

For those in search of a novel outlook on financial investments, I wholeheartedly endorse 'Ignis Fatuus' by Nidadavolu Ashok Kumar. This insightful book sheds light on how investors often fall prey to misleading information propagated by various entities in the financial realm, including academics, media outlets, asset management firms, and fund managers. Exploring the creation of what the author terms as an "ignis fatuus" environment, the book reveals the mechanisms used to entice investors with promises of rapid wealth. Through meticulous scrutiny, it dissects ten prevalent statements made by experts, presenting compelling evidence to debunk these assertions. With its engaging narrative and eye-catching cover, 'Ignis Fatuus' is indispensable reading for anyone navigating the intricate landscape of investing.

This book really opened my eyes to the shady world of investing. The author does a great job explaining how we are fed all sorts of misleading promises and delusions by supposed "experts" - from financial advisors to fund managers to the media. The book goes through 10 of the most common claims these people make that turn out to be lies or extreme stretches of the truth. Things like "you can get rich quick" or "just buy and hold forever." With real data and examples, the author shows why these are fairytales designed to part us from our cash through excessive fees, bad advice, and outright fraud. After reading this book, I feel much more skeptical of any hot investment tips or strategies promised to deliver outsized returns. I now know to be very wary of anything that sounds too good to be true from the supposed "experts" who are really just looking to line their own pockets.

However, you must genuinely want to accomplish it. Either financial freedom or incarceration will result from the rewards. In the best-case scenario, you regain your previous position!
