You can only push the human mind so far before it jumps into the land of insanity And Donatello didn't just jump He swan dived and took a few souls over the cliff with him! I don't know how else to describe it How the heck do you go forward from this? As always I do not want to spoil the wonderful surprises ahead. I will say this has everything I enjoy about the genre and then a sprinkle more just to twist the knife a bit deeper. Subterfuge and misdirection? check Blood feuds? - check Violence? Oh yeah Sweet innocent princesses, who are about to look like Carrie? A couple of them - I'm not telling but I guarantee you will recoil at the choice Heartless characters who live to inflict pain - You know it Three families Three crimes One looking for vengeance One looking to start a war One looking for... I need the next in series

Dark, intense and fiercely consuming, this book captured me in its web, made me more than happy to be there and it left me desperate for the next book. Just so you are aware, this series is a spin-off of the War of Roses trilogy but can be enjoyed on its own. I do feel that having enjoyed that series made for a deeper and richer reading experience for me at least because familiar characters do make reappearances here and of course that is where we originally meet Willow/Mouse. A skillfully crafted and potent blend of deep emotions, tension, turmoil, drama and angst flow seamlessly across every page and deliver a intriguing and addicting start to a series that I need more of ASAP!!! If you love your reads gritty, raw and with a sharp edge, you are going to wanna grab your copy NOW!! Of my own accord I am posting a candid review.

This is no ordinary age gap dark romance. After reading this, my emotions just went blank. The hurt, the pain, the anger, the need for revenge, everything is too intense and there are parts where some tears might have escaped. There isn't any romance in this book, but no doubt we're getting there. This is the first book in the Mice & Men series which leaves you in a haze where you'll need time to come out.
