About this ebook

Can a powerless hacker survive in a world of living weapons?

Thrown into an Arctic bunker as a teenager, Spencer Harrington’s been put on ice by an overbearing super soldier of a father. His mother kidnapped as he watched, Spencer was certain his Dad would find her. But after nearly two years, the trail has run cold.

Now a socially maladjusted nineteen year old, Spencer has decided it’s up to him to do what his father can’t and uncover his mother’s fate.

Armed only with a multi-tool and an arsenal of weapons-grade snark, Spencer launches into a world of robots and living weapons. Along the way he rallies a team of retiree Augments and everyday people living in the shadow of a weapons program gone wrong.

On the brink of Armageddon, with his mother's very existence at stake, Spencer soon stumbles into the true mastermind's web only to discover he's been the prey all along...

Crimson Son is the first book in the Crimson Son Universe, a series of gritty cyberpunk-inspired superhero tales with witty characters, heart-pounding adventure, and helmed by a vulnerable hero with an unmistakable voice.

4+ stars! Really enjoyed the book that hovers somewhere just north of the YA genre and squarely in my 'favourite superhero stories' list! A really exciting take, too, as if you aren't following closely enough, you mind find out most of the action isn't of the smash, boom, pow variety anyway! A really unique approach and I can't wait to continue the trilogy!

I really didn't expect this to be as good as it was. The main character is well drawn. The plot is interesting and engaging. It's not deep but it is a good read.

About the author

Russ Linton has done a lot of stuff in his life. Philosopher, stay at home father, graphic designer, cryptocurrency miner, and yes, even government agent. But what he enjoys most is imagining fantastic places and exploring them through unique, and sometimes odd, perspectives.

A bugman acolyte raised by human monks on the edge of an eternal storm? Check. A powerless hacker punching above his weight class in a world of superheroes? Double check.

If you’ve come looking for more of the same, well, that’s one thing he doesn’t do.

Most of all, he likes to invite others along for these journeys. Hop aboard. No telling where he’ll take you next.
