The Wolves of New York is a three part series and the latest release from Bella Jacobs. Reading supernatural books is pretty new to me, and to be honest, they haven’t always been a favorite. But with Bella Jacobs at the helm with her fantastic imagination and creative writing, I was obsessed with this story and completely drawn into Willow and Maxim’s world right from the start. I could practically envision each scene as I read the words. The electricity that soars from the pages when they’re conversing is amazing and absolutely magnificent. From the moment they lay eyes on one another, they both sense the powerful pull of attraction, almost as if they were meant to find one another. I truly love the strength that Willow has when dealing with Maxim. Despite his position as alpha of the pack, she continues to exhibit a fortitude she could always sense she possessed but never admit that she had. And despite his uncertainty of whether she can be trusted, Maxim feels a connection with Willow he has never before experienced, and he truly admires the strength she displays. But as the story develops and uncertainty lingers, book one abruptly comes to an end, and Ms. Jacobs leaves us hanging onto the edge of our seats. She literally left me screaming at my iPad, leaving me wanting and now having to wait for the release of book two. Wolf King is an amazingly hot story which continued to roll through my thoughts long after I finished the book and left me with a deep curiosity of where Ms. Jacobs will take me next. I eagerly await the release of book two with a strong desire to discover where Willow and Maxim’s lives will go.

This is a new to me author but when I came across this book I was quite taken with the cover and blurb and decided to give it a try and I am very glad that I did. I have to say that I found the concept behind this series intriguing. Paranormal + Mafia + Romance = Fresh, exciting and right up my alley. Was it everything I anticipated? No, it wasn't but I also was not disappointed either and since this is only book one of a trilogy (Yes, beware the cliffy), I still see a whole lot of potential that to me indicates that we will get there. There is a lot going on in this book. We are introduced to the characters, the complex world building begins, major plot lines are being formed, relationship are beginning, a romance is brewing and the general storyline is starting to unfold. That is a lot to accomplish and it does takes time. As far as the romance part of this book I'd call it slow burning at the moment. Willow and Maxim generate plenty of sparks from both their attraction and the antagonism they feel for each other though and they do share a couple of truly smoky moments that really showcase the sizzle and steam they are capable of, we're just not there yet though. I found Willow very likable. She came across as very genuine to me and easy to feel for. She is smart, funny, a bit quirky and spunky. Maxim with his Alphahole tendencies and playboy ways made me grind my teeth a few times but I can't say I wasn't drawn to him and honestly, I feel there is a lot below the surface here that is yet to be discovered and I'm eagerly looking forward to exploring those and witnessing Willow's growth along the way. In the end I have to say that I am very excited by this series. The author has created something very compelling and intriguing. The blending of all the normal paranormal elements (ie: shifters, vamps, fairies and magic), with the sharp edginess of the Mafia elements (ie: rivalry, territory wars, danger, drugs)and the addition of plenty of drama, twists, tension and secrets made very enticing blend that I absolutely crave more of. I need book two ASAP!! I am independently posting a impartial review.

Paranormal reads are some of my favorites, although I will admit that shifters can be a bit of a hit or miss for me. Leave it to author Bella Jacobs to write a shifter romance that hits all the marks, and leaves me wanting more. WOLF KING, the first book in the Wolves of New York series, is chock-full of intrigue, suspense, and some super-steamy alpha style romance, and I was not disappointed. Maxim Thorn's and Willow Astor's initial oil and water differences quickly morph into one hecka hot 'who's the alpha now' back and forth, and it was all the witty, sexy goodness that I've come to know and expect from Bella. Now, full disclaimer, this is the first book of three in a series, so, yes, it is a little bit cliffy. Do not, however, let that discourage you, because, if you're a fan of the PNR and shifter worlds, you're not going to want to wait, so I encourage you to dive right in. Books 2 and 3 will be here before you know it, and in the meantime you get to fall in love with Maxim, Willow, and their world right away. So, go on, take the leap and spend some time with the wolves. You'll be glad that you did. ❤️
