About the author

Sukhpal Singh, M. Phil from JNU, New Delhi and Ph.D from Banglore University is with the centre for Management in Agriculture (CMA), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He has five Books-Rural Mkt. Management (2004), Political Economy of Contract Farming in India (2005), Contract Farming and the State (2006) etc. He is presently a member of the working group of the Planning Commission on agricultural marketing infrastructure for the 12th 5-year plan. Naresh Singla holds a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from (PAU), Ludhiana, Punjab. He has presented papers in regional and national conferences. His research interests are in agricultural marketing, supermarkets and contract farming.
