About this ebook

If you live in a downtown condo in a high-rise building and often dream of relaxing in a garden to take a well-earned break from your busy lifestyle, then this book is for you.

City High-Rise Gardening consists of three parts that explore and highlight essential areas of urban gardening. Part 1, Fresh from the Balcony, covers vegetable gardening for urban living. Part 2, Urban Herb Heaven, is about cultivating flavorful greens in small spaces, and Part 3, Seasonal Bites, provides ideas for cooking with your homegrown harvest.

In her book, Vittoria Navone offers insight not only for absolute beginners with no prior gardening experience but also for seasoned gardeners who, for some reason, had to leave their lush gardens behind and move to a concrete jungle in the heart of a pulsating city with limited space for gardening.

About the author

Vittoria Navone earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Architecture at the University of Bologna, Italy. She strives to balance new spatial concepts and the existing context: culture, tradition, and urban morphology.

Vittoria is focused on domestic and cultural architecture, and her research explores the urban conditions of micro, ad hoc architecture.  She is inspired by the transformation of Italian architecture over the centuries since the Renaissance and is committed to research and publications on this era with its rich heritage.  Her work has recently explored the question of representation by re-examining the concept of the ancient civilizations around the Mediterranean.

Gardening is Vittoria Navone’s favorite way to relax and return to the roots.  She tries to be one with nature,  with playful experimentation and an ethos of social responsibility. CITY HIGH-RISE GARDENING is her first book about a topic other than architecture. Vittoria Navone lives and works in Florence, Tuscany, Italy.
