Meer oor hierdie e-boek

Quantitative NMR (qNMR) has been around for a long time, but also has great potential to solve future problems in any quantitative analysis. As a primary method, it differs fundamentally from chromatographic methods: it is better described as a quantum mechanical balance. Successful implementation of qNMR requires certain attention to detail. 'qNMR - the handbook' is intended to be a guide for analysts to help understand the fundamental principles of NMR and the significant points relating to its implementation for quantitation. Regulatory considerations of qNMR adoption are explained. NMR fundamentals are explained to provide understanding. Together with many useful examples, the book is a compelling addition to the laboratory's reference library, providing all the tools that any practitioner should know to successfully implement qNMR. The authors are qNMR pioneers and come from a variety of backgrounds including business, government, and academia.

Meer oor die skrywer

Michael started his 'love affair' with NMR when he was a graduate student. What followed was fruitful employment in MSDRL and AstraZeneca over some decades. Nine years ago, he joined a fledgling software company, Mestrelab, and contributed to its great success.

In 1990 Bernd Diehl founded Spectral Service, an independent contract laboratory which offers NMR spectroscopy as an analytical service. The company is GMP and GLP certified, and FDA approved. His around 40 employees are responsible for more than 10,000 NMR analyses per year in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and pesticide sector. Based on his numerous research projects, Spectral Service can offer promptly new methods for new analytical challenges like in the heparin scandal in 2008 where several people died after a heparin injection.

Ulrike Holzgrabe, born on January 25, 1956, in Wuppertal, is a German pharmacist and chemist. Until her retirement, she held the position of Chair of Pharmacy and Medicinal Chemistry at Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg. Holzgrabe's research interests include the development of new anti-infectives, the development of selective ligands for muscarinic receptors, as well as bioanalysis and drug analysis using capillary electrophoresis and NMR spectroscopy. In recent years, she has also been recognized as an expert in relation to the nitrosamine contamination in the blood pressure medication Valsartan, and she has published articles on this topic and been interviewed for television. For years, Holzgrabe has been vocal about the issue of drug supply chains, which often rely on production in China and India. She is known for her quote, "The Chinese don't need an atomic bomb. They simply don't supply antibiotics [...] then Europe takes care of itself." In the summer of 2022, she initiated the Essential Therapeutics Initiative for Chemicals Sourcing for the European Union (EThICS) project at the University of Würzburg, which aims to secure the supply of essential medicines in Europe.

Michael Maiwald, born in 1967, serves as the Head of the Process Analytics Department at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin. He is a physical chemist who completed his studies at Ruhr-University Bochum in 1994, where he also earned his doctorate. Subsequently, he led a research group focused on online NMR spectroscopy at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics and Thermal Process Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. He also worked as a scientific staff member and group leader in Central Service Analytics at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, until he was appointed as the Head of the "Process Analytics" department at BAM in 2008. In 2012, he obtained his habilitation in Process Analytics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern.
