Cissy van Marxveldt heeft vele meisjesboeken geschreven, maar de onbetwiste topper uit haar oeuvre moet toch wel ’n Zomerzotheid zijn. Alleen dat woord al: zomerzotheid, daarvan krijg je toch zin in het leven? Dat geldt in elk geval wel voor de vijf meisjes Lenie, Mia, Ella, Dot en Pit, die samen naar een vakantiehuisje op de Veluwe gaan. Vlakbij doen vijf mannelijke studenten hetzelfde. Zit er voor alle meisjes een vakantieliefde in, of misschien nog wel meer? Feit is dat ze zich het hoofd flink op hol laten brengen, zoals het een zomerzotheid betaamt. Op en top genieten, deze evergreen van Cissy van Marxveldt.
