Under the expert guidance of course directors Kathryn Heyman, Sophie Cunningham and Carrie Tiffany, a group of talented new writers embarked on the six-month creative writing course in Sydney and Melbourne in 2013. They shared their challenges and achievements, enhanced their creativity and practiced their craft. With witty, poignant and thrilling narratives, this anthology offers the work of these emerging Australian writers to the world.

KATHRYN HEYMAN is the author of five novels, including The Accomplice, Captain Starlight's Apprentice, and Floodline. She has also written several radio plays for the BBC, and has taught creative writing for the University of Glasgow and the University of Oxford.
SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM has worked in publishing for twenty-five years, and her journalism has been published widely. She is the author of two novels, Geography and Bird, as well as the nonfiction book Melbourne. Sophie is the Chair of the Literature Board of the Australia Council.
CARRIE TIFFANY is the author of Mateship with Birds, which won the inaugural Stella Prize for fiction as well as the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards in 2013. Her first novel, Everyman's Rules for Scientific Living won the Dobbie Award for Best First Book and Western Australian Premier's Award for Fiction. Carrie Tiffany has taught creative writing at the University of Melbourne and RMIT.
