John Gottman, PhD, is co-founder of the Gottman Institute, an emeritus professor of psychology at the University of Washington and, since 1979, the holder of a National Institute of Mental Health Research Scientist Award. Why Marriages Succeed or Fail is based on his authoritative study of 2,000 married couples over two decades. He is the author of The Heart of Parenting amongst many other titles.
