White Nights: Volume 1

Thank you soo much to Charmaine and Anna for sending me a copy of this book to ARC read. Firstly WOW what a book and Secondly OMG that ending Ladies you have certainly let me on tenterhooks waiting for the next part in the story. This book Follows The Russian Oligarch Alex, who we see many sides to throughout this book. from our first encounter with the very sexy gazillionaire, he draws you in. You can tell from the way he holds himself how powerful of a man he is but we get to see a very caring and calculated man in many different lights. Katerina/ Katie/ Katyusha is a nurse who works in the ER, she is a quiet woman who keeps to herself, works her socks off and seriously takes care of those she loves. She protects her heart by being lead by her thoughts and sensible side which means allowing someone in is pretty difficult but one look from Alex across the ER room and everything inside her awakens. The heat between these two was just WOW!! seriously it's HOTT Hot!! the chemistry is instantaneous but boy does this book keep you gripped everything you think will happen takes a twist and throws you in a different direction. it seriously was a gripping incredible read. One I would certainly recommend BUT Ladies that ending OMG Pretty please can we have book 2 because I need to know more...... Gah! This was a sizzling slow burn that quickly zapped to a full blown boil! I have no other way of explaining this book, other than it was different and refreshing. There was no runaway scared heroine in this story. Katherine Morrell, age 25, is a hard-working ER nurse where she meets Alexander Volkov, age 36, when one of his bodyguards gets shot. “He’s one of those Russian oligarchs who made a fortune and oil. Now he runs what amounts to an empire.” Instantly, in scrubs and all, Alexander is absolutely enthralled by Kate. Doing everything he can, he grabs her attention. Now Kate, is normally someone who does everything by the book and does things the safe way. So when Alexander is persistent, she decides to go for it. Have a simple one night stand with this tall dark and handsome mysterious Russian. Nothing is ever that simple. When Alexander runs background check on Kate and she finds out, she’s taken aback and doesn’t understand why he did that. Not to mention that he doesn’t do relationships. She’s annoyed. Kate instantly tried to end this before it gets any farther. Hahaha. Alex does not take no for an answer. He tries to woo her the traditional way with tons of food and flowers. And when that doesn’t work he just takes matters into his own hands. “His face is wicked, diabolic in his lust. He looks like both a devil and an angel, as if he may sprout horns and wings at once” I feel like as the reader, we truly don’t know just how deep into the underworld that Alexander Volkov is in. And because of that we truly don’t know how many enemies he has. But from this book we can grasp that he has some. And being that he absolutely adores Kate, he goes overboard with his protectiveness. What I love about this book, is it’s quite different from your typical mafia-type book because there is no alpha-hole. Alexander is 💯% a gentleman and a true sweetheart while also being demanding and dominant at the same time. There is no OW drama. Kate is it for him and literally lavishes her with everything she could possibly dream of. It was so refreshing to read about Alexander. “In a way, he is my white nights, my everlasting day, my magic.” The book leaves off on a crazy cliffhanger. Once again it is not your typical book where the heroine gets kidnapped. And my greedy heart is clapping at this because it’s just something new and refreshing in this trope. 4.5

I'm so happy that Stolen in the Beauty series introduced me to Charmaine Pauls' work! From the books I read so far from her, I easily finished them within a few hours. I've heard nothing but amazing things about Anna Zaries' work! I was planning to read her work in the near future, but when I heard that these two authors were going to collaborate on a new release I was ecstatic to say the least!! I couldn't wait to read it! White Nights is book #1 in the White Nights duet. It's an age gap and romantic suspense with a twist of mafia/organized crime. Wow! This read! It's a quick, intense steamy read! I got hooked from the first couple of chapters! Its most certainly an addictive and captivating storyline. Navigated from the heroine's perspective, Kate is an ER nurse. She recently got out of a bad relationship; Kate isn't interested or has the time (due to working long hours at the hospital) to have a serious relationship anytime soon. And then we have our hero, Alex Volkov who is a powerful and wealthy Russian oligarch. When these two first meet on a busy evening in a hospital's ER sparks fly between them. Even before she knew who Alex was, she can easily see how powerful and dangerous he is, it oozes out of him. Kate's aware that she should stay away, yet she can't help herself she gives in for one night. But it isn't enough for either of them. The s*xual tension and chemistry is heated, palpable between them. Kate is a sweet lovely character, she has a hectic work life and you could say that she doesn't really focus on herself. She's content with her life but at times feels lonely. Besides being an oligarch, Alex is very mysterious; he doesn't really talk about himself. He doesn't get seriously involved with anyone, but somehow, Kate managed to change that. The more Kate spends time with Alex, she begins to realize that she doesn't to be in a causal relationship with him; her feelings for him begin to evolve. The more she pushed Alex away, the harder he fought back. Overall, a fantastic start to a duet! A fast paced romantic suspense that kept me the edge of my seat!! And yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, looking forward to book #2 Midnight Days! **I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review
