"Courage isn't just overcoming your fears, being determined in the way you do things, willpower. Courage requires math: knowing numbers is of fundamental importance. Numbers are absolutely the most accurate indicator of the state of things. Courage requires a balanced combination of honesty and cleverness. These two things must always coexist. Courage requires pride: in what you represent, pride for the land, the factory, your job, even if it's humble, your family, homeland, history. Courage requires optimism, which means thinking that there's a solution to everything and enjoying what you have. Courage doesn't necessarily mean growing in quantity, but it always mean growing in quality. Lastly, courage requires a conscience: the music of the soul that enables you to tell good from bad, that shows you the way forward. Don't expect amazing stories and awesome feats in what we tell you here. There's lightness and harmony in the winemakers I've interviewed. There's family, commitment, future, but also the past, love, Italy, the world, politics, and there's hope. Above all there's lots of courage."
