Meanwhile, the nefarious Lusitanian Empire, is watching with great interest as events unfold in the Montana system. Their forces have been awaiting the right moment to gain a beachhead in Republic territory, and with Promise’s Marines decimated, they believe the time to strike is now.

I've read a lot of average books in my time but this one has actually forced me to write a review. It's just horrible. The constant ramming of american nationalistic ideals down my throat, the stilted and awful dialogue between characters and the subtle as a white rhino undertones of American independence republicans against the British has made this a truly poor buy. Once again proving books over $10 are bad buys.

Good effort, I liked this enough to buy the second book. A well trod plot line featuring the ubiquitous plain-Jane female heroine, a military based on existing forces and traditions, a dizzying rise through the ranks and against-all-odds fights.

Im only a few books in to my reading life and all i can say is a great book im reading second one now and worth it!
