JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, and paranormal mommy lit. Her foray into the latter, Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, was selected as a Booksense Summer Paperback Pick for 2005, was a Target Breakout Book, and was a Barnes & Noble Number One SFF/Fantasy bestseller for seven weeks.
JK has been a finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award five times, and a winner once, taking home the RITA trophy in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me. Her books have sold over three million copies and are published in over twenty languages.
Before diving into writing full time, JK worked as an attorney in Texas and California where she practiced primarily civil, entertainment, and First Amendment law. She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.
