About this ebook

When the US Marshals Serial Crimes Tracking Unit comes knocking at Aislinn Cain's door, she is given a chance to use her past to save other people's futures. She has survived attacks by two different serial killers and devoted her life to studying the darker side of human history.

A new killer is using medieval torture methods to slay his victims. She can give them a glimpse into his twisted world, but not without a cost. If she opens herself, she risks falling into the depths of her own darkness. Can she afford to help, knowing that the cost could be her own humanity?

I just finished this book but the last few chapters are not visible. It ends on Chapter 47 Pg 135 but the story still continues and cannot be read how sad, although interesting

tedious. this book is basically a wikipedia entry about medieval torture. no storyline. crawled at an excruciatingly slow pace while the protagonist kept repeating the same old torture techniques. ugh, I get it. the author has an unusual fetish for torture. there is no story in this book.

The amount of history and detail in the book is well balanced. I just wished that the ending didn't seem so rushed: the villain and motive are explained out in about 4 pages. There should have been a better build toward the climax at the end.
