Explicit content: this book does not contain any sexual explicit content. It does contain 4 images with (cartoonish) violence: one image of Idono's avatar girlfriend being pushed against a moving car, one image of (a copy of) a female hacker being torn apart by anti-hack bots, and two images of the adult version of Idono getting a lower leg chopped off (he gets a wooden leg after that), see these 4 images here:

Inspired by Little Nemo in Slumberland, The Little Prince, The Red Balloon, and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, I created the graphic novel ‘Idono in Loopy Land’ with a cinematic flow of illustrations about a lonely avatar-boy looking for friends inside a virtual world created by The Leader.

This 115 page book (excl. copyright page) is aimed at the 13 - 29 yrs age group.

Short synopsis:

Theme: absurdity of (virtual) events mirror the unpredictability of life.

Moral: be aware of the difference between fact and fake.

Plot:

The Leader (Mark Zuckerberg with a Pinnochio nose) controls his user profile harvesting platform called Loopy Land. After being warned about an impending hack of his platform, he deploys two platform officers to find the hackers. An avatar is selected by the hackers to play a game with. They ask him what his name is, and he answers “I don’t know”, which they hear as Idono.

The platform moves Idono deep into Loopy Land, where he is constantly looking for friends, and -among other things- narrowly escapes a NFT certified digital art collection, finds an avatar girlfriend who gets killed by a speeding emoji, is sucked up by the spiral of Fake, and has his time-line shortened which turns him instantly into an adult. Eventually, the hackers are caught, Idono is booted off-line, and is employed to help teach the Loopies how to see fact from fake.

P.S. At one point in the book Idono runs through a virtual gallery, this edition contains an expanded (21 pages in total) version of this virtual gallery, showcasing art by Ucci (Luchini) and Tor Ammo.

About the author

Tor Ammo, alias Ucci (Luchini), was born 1953 as Maurice van der Heiden, on the river Amstel. During his twenties he experimented with paint (the virtual gallery inside the book Idono in Loopy Land showcases his work). Inspired by the comic Little Nemo in Slumberland, his interest was diverted to the creation of a graphic novel matching absurdity with a cinematic flow of illustration. Gaming inspired the plot of lost avatar looking for friends. Life got in the way, and it was not until 1998 that Zoom Ltd published Little avatar Simon, only 500 copies, 1st edition in black & white. During the years between then and now, Tor Ammo kept tinkering with the book, adding colour, and fine-tuning the plot to contemporary elements of the online world. The result, this 115 page book aimed at the 13 - 29+ yrs age group, is 4 u. To enjoy the wackiness and the Art. And heed the message: tell Fact from Fake, to create a better world.
