關於本電子書

Robert E. Howard's 'Time Travel of James Allison' invites readers on a phantasmagoric journey into the vivid recollections of a seemingly unassuming Texan, James Allison, who vividly rediscovers his former existences as storied and valiant heroes of bygone epochs. Howard's narrative, without the constraints of time, weaves together a tapestry of self-discovery through past life regression, introducing readers to a carousel of historical vistas and martial grandeur with a stylistic flair that is at once poetically robust and viscerally archetypal. The literary context of this work harkens back to Howard's darkly vibrant sword and sorcery roots, while the prose itself steps beyond the boundary of genre, challenging the limits of imagination and historical fantasy. In exploring the multitudes of Howard's incarnations, the link to the author's own biography becomes apparent. Howard's enchantments of myth and legend, which so transfix the narrative, reflect his own escapism and his fascination with history, heroism, and the philosophical dichotomy between civilization and barbarism. The undercurrents that infuse 'Time Travel of James Allison' are deeply rooted in Howard's characteristic exploration of the human condition as reflected in his rich oeuvre of fantasy, adventure, and his predilection for characters who transcend the ordinary through extraordinary means. 'Time Travel of James Allison' is thus highly recommended to readers who yearn for an odyssey through time, touching upon the fundamental essence of heroism across centuries. It is a book that will surely resonate with fans of high fantasy and historical adventure, as well as those seeking a literary escapade that marries the grandiosity of the past with the introspective journey of the self. Howard's work remains a testament to the enduring appeal of storytelling that stretches the limits of our reality, beckoning us to ponder what lives we may have lived in the echoes of time.

關於作者

Robert Ervin Howard (1906–1936) was an American author of pulp fiction, who is best known for his character Conan the Barbarian and is regarded as the father of the sword and sorcery subgenre. Born and raised in Texas, Howard spent most of his life in the town of Cross Plains, with some time spent in nearby Brownwood. A bookish and intellectual child, he was also a fan of boxing and spent some time in his late teens bodybuilding, eventually becoming a prominent contributor to the short-lived pulp genre of boxing fiction. Crafting an immense volume of work during his 30-year life span, Howard's writing ranged from clever poetry to grim and gritty tales of dark fantasy and horror. Some of his other notable works include 'Kull of Atlantis' and 'Solomon Kane.' While 'Time Travel of James Allison' adds to his lesser-known writings, it integrates his typical style of blending historical adventure with elements of fantasy, featuring a protagonist who experiences reincarnation and time travel. Howard's escapist themes often reflected his own disdain for the challenges of small-town life during the Great Depression. Despite having a relatively brief writing career, Howard created works that have had a lasting influence on literature and have been adapted into films, television shows, and comic books. Tragically, his life was cut short by suicide at the age of 30, but his legacy endures through his vivid storytelling and his significant impact on the fantasy genre.
