NEWBERY MEDAL WINNER • Ellen Raskin's unforgettable, timeless classic continues to be cherished by young readers of each new generation.

"Great fun for those who enjoy illusion, word play, or sleight of hand." —The New York Times Book Review

A highly inventive mystery begins when sixteen unlikely people gather for the reading of the very strange will of the very rich Samuel W. Westing. They could become millionaires, depending on how they play a game. All they have to do is find the answer—but the answer to what? The Westing game is tricky and dangerous, but the heirs play on—through blizzards, burglaries, and bombings. Sam Westing may be dead ... but that won't stop him from playing one last game!

Ellen Raskin has created a remarkable cast of characters in a puzzle-knotted, word-twisting plot filled with humor, intrigue, and suspense.

Winner of the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award • An ALA Notable Book

This book was absolutely amazing. We read this as a read-aloud in school. Though we had to stop about forty times throughout the book. It was an amazing mystery. My favorite actually. I was so glad that Turtle won. She deserved it. I was sad that Sandy died until the end when Turtle went back to Mr.Eastman. Mysteries like these are so great because they all make sense. Don't you love that feeling that you get when you finish a mystery novel & it all just make sense. It's like putting the pieces of a puzzle back together. I reccomend this to all readers! Two thumbs up!

I am a 14 year old boy from a small town in Ohio, and I would just like to say that I have never read such an interesting and literary challenging book of suspense and anticipation. I have learned from this book the aspects and writing techniques of Ellen Raskin. In this book there is an uncontrollable feeling of suspense and anticipation. And i would like to say i have never read a better book in my life. Therefore in complete aspect Ellen Raskin was the best writer in America. And i leave you with this question? What would you do for 200,000,000 dollars? - Izaha Akins
