He is not afraid of a kitten.This is Miss Moppet jumping just too late; she misses the Mouse and hits her own head.She thinks it is a very hard cupboard!The Mouse watches Miss Moppet from the top of the cupboard.Miss Moppet ties up her head in a duster, and sits before the fire.The Mouse thinks she is looking very ill.He comes sliding down the bell-pull.Miss Moppet looks worse and worse. The Mouse comes a little nearer.Miss Moppet holds her poor head in her paws, and looks at him through a hole in the duster. The Mouse comes very close.And then all of a suddenMiss Moppet jumps upon the Mouse!!

Helen Beatrix Potter (1866 1943) was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist. She is best known for her children's books featuring animals, such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was her first commercially published work in 1902. Her books, including 23 Tales, have sold more than 250 million copies. An entrepreneur, Potter was a pioneer of character merchandising. In 1903, Peter Rabbit was the first fictional character to be made into a patented stuffed toy, making him the oldest licensed character.
