A captivating Regency romance. The fortunes of Raven are changing and he puts into motion his plan to woo and marry a high bred woman. To do this, he leases a picturesque mansion of a dowager whose property is in dire straits. The dowager’s granddaughter is put in charge of agreeing to renovations and she and Raven are well matched. But, he is dead set on his plan. What happens is a Regency lover's dream. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A beautiful novel set in England's countryside. The exact year is not stated, but after the Napoleon Wars. Raven was knighted for his Cole Fire Engines that saved Westminster Hall. He is ready to court and propose to the one her loves, Lady Amabel. He wants to buy Verwood, the estate next door to Lady Amabel, but it's only to lent. Meeting Lady Cassandra could change everything. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This charming and emotional love story is the second book in The Duke's Men series. A hapstance encounter during an altercation starts us off on a journey of romance. An infatuation based on inaccurate feelings. A surprising second meeting led to a relationship made over remodeling a home and horses. The characters are complex and interesting. The drama and confusion of feelings were entertaining and kept me engaged. I enjoyed it when their love was finally realized. I highly recommend reading!
