Kahlil Gibran (January 6, 1883–April 10, 1931) A Lebanese-American poet, novelist, and essayist, Gibran's lyrical writings offer a blend of philosophy, religion, mysticism, and parable. Gibran was born in Lebanon and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1895. He was educated in Beirut and studied art in Paris. He later returned to the United States and set down roots in New York City, where he stayed for the rest of this life. He wrote in both English and Arabic and was heavily influenced by William Blake and the Bible. In addition to his classic, The Prophet (1923), he wrote The Madman (1918), Broken Wings (1922), The Processions (1919), and Jesus, The Son of Man (1928).Angelo Lewis is the co-founder of the Diversity and Spirituality Network and is the author of Notes for New Age. His work has been published in periodicals that include the New York Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the National Leader, New Realities, East-West, and the Tokyo Journal. He has also appeared on numerous television and radio networks, including CNN and the Associated Press Radio Network, and has written regular columns for publications that include the Atlanta ConstitutionNouveau, and New Frontier
