The Hunt

Don’t mind me. I’m just trying to claw-coax my computer into delivering book 3 of this series faster… A girl can hope, right? I really do love the bond between Fenris -the local hot werewolf, and Eliana- the succubus who doesn’t want to feed. I’ve enjoyed them since meeting them in Of Fates and Furies and I love reading their story in By Kiss and Claw. I didn’t mind that the mystery subplot wasn’t well developed because I love reading about characters and how they evolve. This instalment is focused on this specific aspect and allow us to explore more of the Fenris and Eliana’s struggles. More often than not, I was yelling in my head for Fenris to “just tell her” what is going on but that makes the wait for book three all the more delicious. I wish I could have more access to his thoughts because it is difficult to love someone and not be able to tell them. It is difficult to love someone outside the boundaries that have been in place since the beginning of times. It makes reading this series even more delicious because I do know they will end together despite all the rules and expectations. Speaking of delicious, even though I sometimes get mad at Eliana, I so want to hug her because she is struggling. She struggles with her identity and her basic needs. I empathized a lot with her because I am in my mid-thirties and it is just now that I’m starting to reconcile what has always been expected from me and who I actually am. It is very hard to find that balance but I’m sure she will and that is an aspect I like in this book. I can’t wait to dive into this world again and get see their happy ending unfold.
