Ule is Xiinisi, a race of trans-dimensional world builders. Shunned by her peers and spurned by a love interest, she retreats into Elish, a planet she built during her youth while being incarcerated. After an encounter with Istok, a cactus demon, Ule is bound by his magic. Transformed into a gemstone, she succumbs to a dream state. Upon awaking, she is thrust back into Elish where merchants and farmers struggle to recover from a one hundred year war, and even worse…

Kit Daven is the author of The Forgotten Gemstone, The Other Castle, and The Starry Rise, which form the sci-fantasy series, A Xiinisi Triology. She writes in other genres, with a preference for dark fantasy, weird fiction, and horror, and has penned the novelettes Spider Spun and The Cannibal's Handbook. She resides in Cambridge, Ontario with her husband and two cats.
