Clark had always been a successful traveling salesman, his charming personality and quick wit making him popular with his clients. Growing up in a small Midwestern town, Clark had learned the value of hard work and perseverance from his parents, who ran a modest hardware store. As a child, he'd spend hours arranging displays and chatting with customers, unknowingly honing the skills that would later serve him so well in his career.

After graduating high school, Clark had briefly attended community college before realizing his true calling lay in sales. He'd started small, peddling kitchen appliances door-to-door, but his natural charisma and dedication soon caught the attention of a larger company. Within a few years, he'd risen through the ranks to become one of their top representatives, covering a territory that spanned several states.

It was during one of his sales trips that he met Kate, a vivacious young woman who worked as a receptionist at a hotel where he frequently stayed. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage within a year, and soon after, they welcomed their daughter Emily, followed two years later by their son Jacob. Clark's success allowed them to buy a beautiful home in a quiet suburb, and for several years, life seemed perfect.

But nothing could have prepared him for the horror that awaited him when he returned home from a week on the road to find his beloved family dead in their beds.
