Science communicator Isabel Vega is overcoming the death of her daughter Lucy. One day, a woman named Daya contacts her. Daya works for ADNTRO, a biotech company that is making waves globally with a revolutionary COVID diagnosis method, and she proposes a wild project that Isabel, still fragile, ultimately accepts.
However, gradually, the sinister ramifications of ADNTRO's project are unveiled. Isabel, who has already involved her sister Azahara, realizes that the biotech is trying to create a race of inferior humans by cloning DNA from a million-year-old fossil found in the Gran Dolina of Atapuerca. If successful, humanity will cross an ethical boundary that can never be restored. She no longer wants to be part of it, but she is trapped.
From the Atapuerca site in Burgos to the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, events unfold at a frantic pace that will lead Isabel Vega to fight with all her might to prevent the creation of a new race of slaves.
