O ovoj e-knjizi

This book explores many of the issues that arise when we consider persons who are in pain, who are suffering, and who are nearing the end of life. Suffering provokes us into a journey toward discovering who we are and forces us to rethink many of the views we hold about ourselves.

O autoru

Peter A. Day, Chipping Norton, UK. Day's main area of interest is early church and Patristic theology, with an emphasis on the work of Origen of Alexandria. His recent focus has been on concepts of universal salvations within Christianity and their influence on Theodicy. Day is currently completing a doctoral thesis on Origen and universal salvation in the hope that someone will be interested enough to offer lecturing work in a related area. During the last few years of studying, he has worked as a part-time lecturer in philosophy at Westminster College in Oxford, has been co-director of an educational conference company, has served as co-organizer of an international series of conferences on "evil," and has set up "The Marian Shrines Project" which aims to produce a comprehensive historical guide to Shrines of "Our Lady" in England and Wales. Outside of academic work, Day is involved with the Church, enjoys music and furniture, and dreams of Lambretta scooters and kit cars.Robert N. Fisher, Oxford, UK. Fisher is interested in all aspects of evil, suffering, pain, illness, disease, death, holocaust, and genocide. As the former Head of Theology and Principal Lecturer in Philosophy, Theology, and Theodicy at Westminster College, Oxford, he became known as the source of all suffering in the College! His research in the area of Philosophical Theology led to his dissertation at the University of Oxford entitled: "The World and God: A Theology of Persons in Relationship". The title underlies his other main interest: persons. He is the founder of the Global Association for the Study of Persons, a member of the Steering Committee for the International Forum on Persons, on the Advisory Board for Essays in Personalist Studies, and a member of the Communitarian Forum. He presently runs his own company, Learning Solutions, and is an educational consultant. He is married to Fiona and has three children, three cats, and a fanatical interest in science fiction, Star Trek, and American Football.Daniel T. Primozic, Elmhurst College, USA. Primozic, Chairperson and Associate Professor of Philosophy at Elmhurst College, has written a wide range of articles, almost all of which pertain to personhood, humanity, and the moral community. He is also the editor of Dialogue, the international journal of Phi Sigma Tau, has published On Merleau-Ponty (2000), and is currently writing On C. S. Lewis, both for the Wadsworth Philosopher Series.Joel A. Thompson, University of St. Andrews, UK. Thompson is a graduate of Elmhurst College, having received a B.A. in Philosophy in 2000. His post-graduate work began at the University of St. Andrews for an M.Litt degree in Philosophy. His areas of interests include philosophy of mind, moral philosophy and ethics, decision theory, and philosophical Taoism. He is a member of Phi Sigma Tau (the International Philosophy Honor Society), Phi Kappa Phi, and a student member of the American Philosophical Practitioners Association.
