Storm Front

I started off listening to The Dresden Files at home on AudioBooks. But I would always get distracted so I started checking them out from the library, but I would never finish the book before it was do, and that was even after renewing it to the max.. so I download the EBOOKS. And I finished this one in about 2 weeks.. I LOVE THE CHARACTERS THE PLOTS THE ALLIES THE BAD GUYS THE JOKES DRESDEN MAKES IN EVERY CHAPTER, he makes me smile. I'm reading every book starting with the first. Keep writing Dresden Jim!!

I read this book for the first time at 14 years old. The series helped me, an extraordinarily shy and awkward twig of a kid, embrace my nature and my love of sci-fi and fantasy. I sought to emulate the characters I met in the Dresden Files and 10 years later, re-reading Storm Front at 24, I realized just how impactful Jim Butcher and Harry Dresden have been to shaping me into who I am. I can't recommend this book series enough.

I read through to the end because I had purchased, not entirely for the plot. The book can be entertaining, but I had to skim through several parts, especially those where the author tried to go "deep", the writing just felt childish and simple too often. Same for the plot itself - a neat concept, but far too often deus ex machina-ed and I never felt honestly in touch with any of the characters. An okay book, with a fun concept, in need of better writing and less super-stereoryped characters.
