Kept me in suspense. I've not watched movies or read any books about this, although I have read articles dealing with various aspects of WW2. As a young woman, in the early 1980s, I met women who hated the "Japs". I couldn't understand the hatred that literally dripped from them. This book reveals just a hint of the depth of the atrocities to understand the US desire to stop the war as soon as possible. Highly recommend.
About the author
Stephen Walker was born in London. He has a BA in History from Oxford and an MA in the History of Science from Harvard. His previous book was Shockwave: Countdown to Hiroshima, a New York Times bestseller. As well as being a writer he is also an award-winning documentary director. His films have won an Emmy, a BAFTA and the Rose d’Or, Europe’s most prestigious documentary award.
