About this ebook

“One sensational read! Wow, this one just completely blew me away. If you are looking for a brand new series to sink your teeth into, then look no further. A must read!Once Upon A Time Book Blog, 5 stars

Madison walked through the fallen snow, looking left and right. It had been Kaylee’s idea to use the trail through the forest; she said no one would follow them. But Madison lost sight of Kaylee for a moment and when she found her again she wasn’t alone…

In the remote forests of Stillwater, Minnesota, you can scream for days and no one will hear you. So when the bodies of two fifteen-year-old girls are discovered frozen in the snow, Special Agent Nikki Hunt is sure the killer is local: someone knew where to hide the girls and thought they would never be found.

Though Nikki hasn’t been home in twenty years, she knows she must take over the case. The Sheriff’s department in Stillwater has already made a mistake by connecting the girls’ murders to those of a famous serial killer, refusing to consider the idea that the killer could be someone from town.

Then another girl’s body is found, a red silk ribbon tied in her hair, and Nikki realizes that the killer has a connection to her own dark past, and the reason she left Stillwater.

Nikki is not the only person in town who wants those secrets to stay hidden. Will she be able to face her demons before another child is taken?

Gripping and spine-chilling, The Girls in the Snow will make you gasp, unable to put it down until the final heart-pounding twist. Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter, Lisa Gardner and Robert Dugoni.

I'm so glad that I finally got to this one, and I'm eager for book two, "One Perfect Grave" coming February 25th! The Girls in the Snow centers around FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt, still haunted by her parents’ murders years ago. When Nikki's called upon to return to her hometown to investigate the frozen remains of two young girls, she’s soon questioning everything she thought to be true and those she once trusted above all else. Mark, the man she helped identify as their killer, has appealed his conviction in light of new evidence brought upon by the Innocence Project. Meanwhile, his brother Rory has decided to plead with Nikki to revisit her memories and analyze the facts for herself. But what happens when her past collides with her current case? Nikki knows that while she's still on the hunt for a killer at large, the case of the girls found in the snow must take precedence. This was an incredibly atmospheric read, to the point that I felt chills both from the content and my perceived cold front! Now, while the mystery behind Nikki’s parents’ tragic demise didn't surprise me, I did enjoy the thrilling path leading up to that grand reveal. However, I was utterly shocked to find out what happened to the girls, the why, and the how! I loved the whodunit vibes as well as the beginnings of a romance. I'm hoping book two will further explore this relationship and those on Nikki’s team as I'm anxious to get to know them all a little better! As far as first books go, this was an excellent start to a new series! Perfect for crime thriller fans looking to get lost in a case while cozying up with a blanket and warm drink! An impressive example of how our actions ultimately affect not just our futures but others as well. Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my complimentary copy of this title. I have voluntarily and honestly reviewed this title.

In the remote forests of Stillwater, Minnesota, the bodies of two fifteen-year-old girls, Madison and Kaylee, are discovered frozen in the snow. Special Agent Nikki Hunt is invited back to her hometown to investigate and she is sure the killer is local: someone knew where to hide them and thought they'd never be found. Home for the first time in twenty years, she also is faced with the demons of her disturbed past. She was just sixteen when her parents were murdered. She identified and helped convict their killer, Mark Todd. But with new evidence that could clear Mark’s name for the murder of her parents. Nikki is in a dilemma. Are Madison and Kaylee’s deaths connected to her parents’ murders? And can she face up to her past before another life is taken? I was attracted to this book because of it’s cover and once I read the premise, I just couldn’t wait to get started. This book is written so well and it full of suspense and twists. Both the plot lines in the book go at such an amazing fast pace that you just don’t want to put the book down until you know how the end plays out. Being the first book in a new series, it is a great start. The main character Nikki Hunt along with her team is also pretty good. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Overall, an amazing book it keeps you hooked on right till the end! Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

This book is worthy of a read. The plot is intricate and some of the developments are quite unexpected. I would normally have given it a five star rating but settled on a four star because although some of the key people in the story are well developed and are memorable I found it difficult to keep some of the other important characters in perspective because they became little more than names. Still I would recommend this book but warn the reader to pay attention to all the characters who appear throughout.
