About this ebook

The majority of common fractures in children can be managed by a general practitioner. If a child presents after a fall with significant swelling or deformity of the injured limb or obvious pain around the bone, it is likely that the child has sustained a fracture. A fracture is very painful: even before the child is examined and treated, adequate and timely pain relief must be administered . The purpose of immobilisation in children’s non-displaced fractures is usually pain relief since the fracture would heal spontaneously even without the support.
