Das Thema Sicherheit durchzieht sowohl das Leben Einzelner als auch das Zusammenleben von Personenkollektiven. In diesem Heft geht es um das Wahrnehmen und Wertschätzen sowie die Stabilisierung von Situationen, in denen Gefahren und Risiken reduziert werden. Außerdem stehen die Instrumentarien, Methoden und Maßnahmen im Fokus, mit denen Sicherheit geschaffen werden soll. Besonders in komplexen Systemen wird Sicherheit zu einem schwierig zu fassenden Thema, zu dessen Begleiterscheinungen beispielsweise die Beschneidung von Freiheit zählt. Sicherheit wird in allen Lebensgebieten relevant – von der Politik, Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und Recht über die Arbeitswelt bis hin in Medien, Technologie, Ökologie und Medizin. Zudem ist der Umgang mit Sicherheit kulturell geprägt. The issue of security pervades both the life of individuals and the cohabitation of collective groups. This issue focuses on the perception, appreciation and stabilisation of situations in which risks and dangers are reduced. It also homes in on the tools, methods and measures that ought to be employed when ensuring security. Particularly in complex systems, security becomes an elusive subject, a by-product of which being the restriction of personal freedom, to name an example. Security is becoming relevant in all areas of life – from politics, society, business and law to the world of work, media, technology, ecology and medicine. The way security is dealt with differs from culture to culture.
