Marilyn Johnson
This is book 5 in the Rookie K-9 Unit series, however I believe it is a stand alone book. This is the first in the series that I have read and I had no problem keeping up. There is probably history with some of the background characters that I missed but nothing to keep me enjoying this novel. If you enjoy police, K-9 type novels you will enjoy this one. It is full of murder, mystery, suspense, and romance. Ariel Martin is a sweet loving teacher who is trying to start over, yet is her past catching up with her or is it something completely different. When she is forced to spend time with the handsome K-9 officer will she find that she can trust men and maybe it will be possible to find true love? Tristan McKeller does not have time for romance. He is a loving brother and dedicated police officer. While trying to find the balance in his life with all the murders and things going on in his small town, he is not sure what to think of his feelings for the beautiful teacher. Will he be able to solve the mysteries surrounding her before it is to late, and is there a chance at a future for them? I was given a copy of this novel from net galley for my honest opinion.

Suspense rules the day here as we get to know the intriguing characters that McCoy develops here. I really enjoyed the continued development of the overarching plot of the series while this novel takes us on an adventure all of its own. Subtly vivid descriptions bring this world to life as a sweet romance brings the characters together. The unique plot brings readers and characters together in a suspenseful yet clean novel that alternately had me in suspense and smiling at the sweetness of the characters. I really enjoyed how the characters in this novel were developed. Their individuality worked in with the way that they get to know one another. They were the type of individuals who invited readers into their lives for the short while that we get to know them. All in all this was an enjoyable, sweet, clean romance with a dose of suspense. I would definitely recommend it to others. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
