The illustrations in the graphic novel are breathtaking, with detailed depictions of Musashi's fights and battles. The use of color and shading helps to create a sense of depth and movement, making the action scenes particularly thrilling. What sets this adaptation apart is its ability to capture the essence of Musashi's teachings in a concise and accessible way. The book provides a clear and concise explanation of the Five Rings philosophy!

I tried to read the text version but found it a tad dull (sorry Musashi) but this version kept my interest. I've just started Wing Chun so will read this a few more times later on :)

About the author
SEAN MICHAEL WILSON is a comic book writer from Scotland, living in Japan. He has had many books published with a variety of US, UK, and Japanese publishers, such as The Book of Five Rings, and edited the critically acclaimed AX: alternative manga (Publishers Weekly’s “Best Books of 2010” in comics). In 2016, his book Lafcadio Hearn’s “The Faceless Ghost” and Other Macabre Tales from Japan was nominated for the prestigious Eisner Award. And in 2017, his book Secrets of the Ninja won an International Manga Award from the Japanese Government.
